Through the Years

Hello and welcome

Through the Years

The school started in 1950 on a 2 hectares piece of land along Harare road as a primary school. It was by then called Rhobicon School.  It was moved to the current site in 1952 to occupy 9.8 hectares of land donated by Michael Hein. The Hein`s are of German descent and came from the Eastern Cape in South Africa and settled on the farm Senale South East of the school.    We have other names like Elder Stockil and the Rufus played vital roles in the history of the school’s establishment processes. The name Anderson Memorial School was adopted in 1960 in commemoration of Elder Anderson who sacrificed all he had in the establishment of Solusi University in 1894.  In 1964, the first high school classes were started as a Private School. The school had 64 students and 4 teachers. By 1972, the first ‘O’ level classes were started and by then the school had 12 teachers. Sixty –seven years later, Anderson Memorial School is a well-established school offering excellent spiritual and academic education based on a firm Biblical Foundation.  The lord has kept this school progressing on the current 25.9 hectares of land with an enrolment of 350 students, 28 teachers and 17 non-teaching staff occupying various positions to keeping the school as the flagship of Adventist Education.

May we never lose the spirit of selfless love, dedication and commitment that has marked the establishment and the early development of this institution now called Anderson Schools propelled by the theme:  “The Anderson We Want”
